Humanities Program, Grades 9-11

The Humanities program integrates Art, English, and Social Studies.  The courses foster a deeper understanding of the concepts with themes relevant to the content of the curricula. The Social Studies content of each course reflects that of the Regents class. Students who choose to take their Art, English, and Social Studies requirements through Humanities should expect an increased emphasis on reading, writing, critical thinking, and independent projects that develop artistic skills. A team of three faculty members (one from each department) teaches Humanities in a double period format.  Upon successful completion of the Humanities course at each grade-level, students receive three credits (one unit of credit in Art, English, and Social Studies respectively).

All students (Regents and Honors) are eligible to apply for this program.  The interdisciplinary curriculum and approach provides preparation for High School Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate courses as well as college / university expectations.
